If... more » Description We produce the National Public Television series, "Spotlight On" broadcasting on Public Television Stations, nationwide. If you've ever watched PBS, and seen a short 4 to 5 minute interesting little show in between the scheduled programs . . . it was probably us. This is our 24th year producing the program. We are looking for more distribution and exposure in the business marketplace (large corporations, associations, ad agencies and PR firms frequently love underwriting these shows for the national exposure they gain.) We need a few marketing and sales professionals with strong verbal and pretty good written communications skills who are very comfortable selling high-ticket items to high-level corporate decision makers. You would be an Associate Producer calling on potential underwriters to have a show produced and aired about their 'issue', or 'cause', or what they want millions of viewers to see. Basically, you would be calling associations or large corporations - typically speaking with their Directors of Advertising, Public Relations, Public Affairs, etc. You’ll find they'll usually be very receptive - because you represent something they want . . . namely national television exposure with guaranteed airings at a low cost, as there's no charge for air time on Public television - BUT . . . the program must be intelligent and educational in nature. They’ll like that, too! Most of our Associate Producers find the experience very . . . mentally stimulating, because they can call on organizations involving 'things' that interest them. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to seek out and identify new prospects for their sales leads and have the skills to connect with decision makers through telephone sales from their home office. The ideal candidate will have plenty of experience working with directors of marketing and communications, PR firms and Ad agencies, being effective at reaching decision makers over the phone. We have found that retired sales executives seem to do quite well at this position. Please don't apply if you're a frustrated producer trying to break into TV. This is a telephone sales job. Part-time versatile schedules. Ideal for someone who wants a flexible schedule. No benefits. We pay a 15% commission. Typical programs start at $30,000 and up. Perhaps you'll enjoy our little story below if you think you may ‘fit.’ “CALLING, really isn't much different then INVENTING! . . . PERSISTENCE vs. PATIENCE Persistence is the quality that helps people succeed. Quitting prevents people from reaching their goals. Many goals aren't reached simply because the person quits too soon. Thomas Edison failed over 9,000 times in his attempts to make the light bulb! Once interviewed by a young reporter who boldly asked Mr. Edison if he felt like a failure . . . and if he ever thought he should just give up? . . . Perplexed, Edison replied, ‘Young man, why would I feel like a failure? I now know definitively over 9,000 ways that an electric light bulb will not work! Success is almost in my grasp.’ Shortly thereafter, Edison invents the light bulb! Every time you see a lightbulb, you have a reminder of the tremendous power of persistence. Patience is the key to persistence. But it's difficult! If it were an easy trait to master, everyone would be patient. But they're not!” To watch an overview of Spotlight On programs, look here . . . http://www.trivue.org/Trivue/Home.html mouse down a page and click “Spotlight On - Highlights over 25 years”!
