This includes monthly / quarterly / annual financial reporting, planning, and production variance management. The individual is a key financial resource to support plant personnel and is required to assist the Business Controller and/or Business team in requests as needed to support the business.Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities:* Become familiar with firm's Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures.* Immediately report all EH&S incidents (injuries, near misses, releases).* Complete all required EH&S training in a timely fashion.* Follow all firm facility and corporate EH&S procedures and practices.* Attend and actively participate in facility EH&S meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement.* Provide feedback and suggestions for EH&S program improvement.* Participate in job safety analysis activities.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Month-End Closing & Reporting - 35%Coordinate and facilitate adherence to the month end financial closing of assigned Specialty Chemicals plants in accordance with IFRS.Ensure timely and accurate processing of: revenue related and other entries as needed.Assist plant personnel with month-end closing issues or concerns.Complete and compile monthly production variance entries and analysis.Provide statistics/analysis of the month end results as needed to the Business Controller.Ensure close process is done accurately and on time.Prepare account reconciliations as appropriate.Monitor and review major raw materials and utilities pricing and usage.Financial & Systems support - 25%Maintain a sound knowledge of the business and understand how the operations of the plants affect the financial results.Support Plants with financial/accounting/other issues as they arise.Train and support new employees as needed.Lend knowledge to corporate personnel on updating policies and procedures.Provide SAP and Excel Support to the Operations and Business unit.Oversee the product costing module in SAP for Specialty Chemicals.Provide SAP training as needed for Specialty Chemicals employees.Annual Plan and Quarterly Outlooks - 20%Assist the Business Controller and Plants in preparing the Annual Plan and Quarterly Outlooks as required.Enter the annual plan into SAP and assist in product costing and other SAP related processes, as required.Special Projects/Ad hoc Reporting - 20%Participate in special projects/ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.Fill in for Operations Controller, performing month-end closing duties as well as annual planning related duties, when needed.Minimum Position Qualifications/Requirements:* Bachelor degree at a major university with an emphasis in Accounting* 5+ years of operational financial accounting/analysis experience in a multi-site chemical plant/manufacturing environment* Exceptional MS Office Suite and accounting software knowledge* Experience in SAP ERP system* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
